Robert M. Current established Current Mechanical in Fort Wayne, Indiana, in 1978 as a customer-oriented mechanical construction services business dedicated to providing a quality product and meaningful employment.
“I always wanted to go into business for myself," Bob says. “I had worked for other contractors and businesses. I had some experience in all aspects of the business: estimating, installation, service, sales and management. When the opportunity came along to buy into a business, I felt like I was ready.”
Current Mechanical has grown to include a staff of 90. But it’s still a tightly knit team. “I think of all the people in this company as friends. I'm proud that we have been able to maintain a good reputation while growing the company as much as we have."
Current Mechanical has built that strong reputation throughout northeast Indiana by providing top-quality ventilation, heating and air conditioning services tailored to meet its customers' needs. Building owners and managers throughout northeast Indiana have come to rely upon our local, family owned business to install, maintain and repair their climate control systems. We’re known as air quality experts, and our projects have included schools, hospitals, apartments, assisted-living facilities, small retail and much more.
At the request of those satisfied building owners and managers, in 2009 we added residential ventilation, heating and air services, as well as fire protection design and engineering via Current Fire Protection, Inc. These services compliment the wide array of resources that Current Mechanical already offers in Fort Wayne and surrounding areas.
Our professionalism in both commercial and residential work sets us apart from the rest, and the business principles upon which Current Mechanical was founded continue to guide our business into the future. These philosophies have helped our business create an ever-expanding customer base.
Current Mechanical remains a family owned and operated business, led today by the second generation of the Current family. Tom, Ted and Tim have nearly 90 years of combined experience. They’ve grown a company that is unmatched in response time and customer service in the industry.
And Current Mechanical maintains a strong commitment to the community. In addition to renovating the former Falstaff Brewery in downtown Fort Wayne to house our sustainably designed office space, we engage in work for nonprofit organizations in northeast Indiana.
